March 30, 2017 - Updates, Upcoming, and Useless Stuff
In the interest of not being a slouch I'm going to try writing more consistent updates between movie viewings. This is good news for you and if I have to explain why that is well then I guess we're not on the same page.
There are some exciting developments hopefully coming soon. Keep reading and listening!
What's opening this week
Nope: The first movie that looks like it should have been aborted is The Boss Baby, featuring the uncomfortably MRA-worthy voice of Alec Baldwin. Yes I know he's currently a liberal Trump dumping wet dream thanks to SNL but the trailer can't convince me that the smug lines coming from the titular baby's mouth aren't being delivered in earnest.
Sure: Ghost in the Shell has been making waves since Scarlett Johansson was cast as the lead. It's a bizarre decision for sure, akin to Matt Damon's role in The Great Wall, but white savior in an Asian environment is nothing new. I don't know anything about the source material which should come as no surprise. The trailer does look compelling though even the if the premise doesn't necessarily seem inspired. Kudos for not trying to sculpt Scarlett's face in an offensive way!
What the fuck: What a wildcard! Peelers opened a couple of days ago. I don't know where but it did, or so the internet tells me. How does this not sound like a fun time?: "A small town strip club owner must defend her bar, her strippers and her life when violent infected patrons show up on the final closing night and all hell breaks loose." I'm assuming the strippers are treated with absolute respect but if I hop on Twitter for a few minutes I'm sure I'll remember misogyny is still a thing. Sorry to remind you that the world is still out there beyond whatever screen you're reading this on.
